Police came under fire last night for encouraging people living in a Northumberland village to shop speeding drivers.
Opponents of the scheme which is being piloted at Swarland, near Rothbury, say it is open to error and abuse.
If successful, the Northumbria Police initiative could be rolled out regionwide.
Microlight flyers from all over the country will be winging their way to a Northumberland village next weekend to support Sir Bobby Robson's cancer fundraising campaign.
Businessman Terry Maughan is using his annual "hangar bash" in Longframlington to boost the appeal, which has already raised £700,000 for cancer research and clinical trials in the North East.
