Posted by The Journal on Jan 5, 09 12:03 PM in News

Alnwick District Council is offering residents an environmentally friendly way to dispose of real Christmas trees.

A series of collection points will be set up between January 5 and 9 to help people ensure that their trees are discarded responsibly.

Residents are asked to bring their trees along, making sure that there is no string or metal attached.

The trees will then be shredded into bark chippings, which will be used on the authority's parks and gardens. If you wish to have a bag of chippings from the trees, please call at a site.

Trees will be collected at the following locations:

January 5 - Alnwick Greenwell Lane car park, 9am - 11.30am

January 6 - Amble Coquet Street car park, 9am - 10.30am

January 6 - Warkworth Beach Road car park, 11am - 12.30pm

January 7 - Longframlington football field, 9am - 10.30am

January 7 - Felton lay-by at north end of the village, 11am - 12.30pm

January 8 - Rothbury Cow Heugh car park, 9am - 12pm

January 9 - Powburn Hedgeley Services, 9am - 10.30am

January 9 - Embleton recycling site, 11.30am - 1pm
